The Client:
Franklin & Marshall College (F&M) is a 230-year-old private, residential liberal arts college located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
The Challenge:
Faced with leadership and management vacancies in its Finance Department, F&M needed to fill several key roles until new hires were made. A top priority for F&M was maintaining consistency and continuity throughout the interim period.
The RKL Approach:
Thanks to our wealth of strategic financial management experience, RKL was uniquely positioned to serve F&M’s interim staffing and functional needs. Our engagement leads worked closely alongside the college’s Associate Vice President of Finance and Risk Management, aligning the firm’s best talent and developing a customized staffing plan that would maintain the track record of high quality data, reporting and financial management from this department.
The Results:
RKL team members seamlessly blended with F&M’s existing finance staff to fill an open controller role; support the department’s day-to-day operations; oversee payables and purchasing; prepare for an audit and assist in the training of new hires as they were onboarded. Additionally, RKL leveraged talent from across the firm’s footprint to fill an interim senior accountant role and assist with the preparation of tax returns and account reconciliations.
Through our bench strength and cross-functional skill set, RKL was able to bring confidence during a period of transition to one of the nation’s most respected academic institutions.
