A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to meet with a few former RKL team members to discuss the potential launch of an alumni community focused on common interests such as networking, training tools, continuing education and career opportunities. I was looking forward to the chance to reconnect and to learn how RKL can continue to play a role in the success of our colleagues, even after they’ve left the firm.
Some of the conversation matched my expectations – the role that RKL can play in providing CPE opportunities or possible career connections. The part of the discussion, however, that I found the most intriguing was around the values that we share as current or former RKL team members. Members of the group reflected on their experiences with the firm as preparing them for successful careers. Exposure to a wide range of client types, issues, training and mentoring all culminated for a career experience that propelled them into the people they are today and shaped their work ethic – to be inquisitive, resourceful, hardworking and committed to excellence.
Of course, we enjoyed a lot of laughs and great memories, which is to be expected when you get a group of people together who essentially shared parts of their lives together. At RKL, we’re excited about the possibility of playing a role in helping you maintain these important relationships, and it was clear from our initial lunch that this would be a welcomed opportunity for our alumni.
Getting down to brass tacks, here are a few things you can expect from the RKL Alumni Connection in the coming months:
