Early in his public accounting career, Doug Berman switched his focus from working with commercial clients to serving not-for-profit organizations and never looked back. Now, nearly three decades later, Doug is a leading financial consultant for nonprofits throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
From colleges and cultural associations to social service agencies and foundations, Doug helps community benefit organizations carry out their missions from a place of financial strength and success. As Partner in RKL’s Audit Services Group and leader of the firm’s Not-for-Profit Industry Group, Doug leads one of the largest Pennsylvania-based teams of accountants and consultants exclusively focused on serving the financial, operational and strategic management needs of more than 600 nonprofits.
Doug’s extensive industry experience allows him to deliver practical solutions, innovative ideas and best practices to help community benefit organizations meet requirements proactively and operate more efficiently and effectively. Beyond financial statements, his active community engagement, including extensive board leadership and volunteer service, deepens Doug’s understanding of the challenges nonprofits face.
In his role as Managing Partner of RKL’s York Office, Doug oversees the general operations of this firm location. He also cultivates the community engagement of his colleagues through office wide volunteer events and annual fundraising drives to support the United Way of York, York County Cultural Alliance and various capital campaigns.
“I consider myself an advocate for my nonprofit clients – connecting them with resources and assisting them in identifying and implementing best practices to help them achieve their mission.”
