The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (DOR) recently announced that all of the business taxes it administers will be transitioned to a new platform, myPATH. Affected taxpayers will receive information directly from DOR, but read on for an overview of the change, the impact on business taxpayers and action items for a successful transition.
When will the move to myPATH happen?
DOR is in the final phase of transitioning all business taxes to myPATH, which is scheduled to be up and running in November 2022. Business taxpayers are advised to create a myPATH account in late November. DOR will keep select functions in the previous platform, e-TIDES, available for 90 days after the launch of myPATH. Any taxpayer who needs assistance or has questions regarding the transition from e-TIDES to myPATH is encouraged to email the DOR support team at myPATH@pa.gov.
Who will be affected by the transition to myPATH?
All business taxpayers will be affected by this transition. This means any business filing tax, regardless of the tax type, will be required to register with myPATH. Additionally, any third party wishing to gain access to myPATH will also be affected. The list of tax types moving to myPATH includes sales and use tax, Corporate Net Income Tax, Gross Premiums Corporation Tax and Shares Tax, among many other business taxes.
How do I start using myPATH?
DOR recommends that all business taxpayers wait until late November 2022, which is the projected completion of the myPATH implementation. Once the site is live, taxpayers should click the sign-up link on myPATH.
Then, taxpayers will be prompted to create a profile, username and password. Along with the standard password, myPATH will also require multi-factor authentication (MFA). The MFA is a unique security code that will be prompted anytime the account is accessed from a new browser or device.
Once the myPATH account is set up, taxpayers will need to enter their ID number (FEIN, SSN, PATH ID or Revenue ID) and the applicable tax type(s). Taxpayers having trouble creating their account can request an access letter, which will be sent to the address on file with the PA DOR.
